Leading the Circular Economy Revolution with Sargassum Seaweed

What Seafields Does.

The leading supplier of sustainable biomass

Seafields transforms harmful Sargassum seaweed blooms into a sustainable, reliable resource for the circular economy. Our unique AlgaePonix paddocks secure year-round supply with no supply chain risk, protecting marine ecosystems, fuelling sustainable industries, and removing carbon at scale.

This is achieved through our SeaClear and Sea*** Solutions, which allow us to catch, cultivate and harvest Sargassum. Creating a valorisation pathway whilst protecting vital Caribbean coastlines.

Our Services.

From coastal protection to industry feedstock

Sargassum Management

We intercept Sargassum at sea with our SeaClear system, stopping harmful blooms before they reach coastlines and protecting fragile ecosystems.

The seaweed is intercepted behind deflection barriers and then stored in the water in our AlgaePonix paddocks.

Initial Processing

Harvested Sargassum is squeezed, cleaned, and dried, preparing the biomass for conversion into high-value, sustainable and circular products.

Biostimulants

Under license from partners Carbonwave, we process fresh Sargassum into natural biostimulants that boost crop growth and resilience and reduce the need for chemical, fossil-fuel based fertilizers.

Dried Pulp

We supply dried pulp to biorefineries for green products. Our seaweed pulp is very high quality because we harvest it in-water. Any unsold pulp is converted into biochar, which can be used in green concrete and other sustainable building materials, locking the carbon away for hundreds to thousands of years.

“As far as we know, we are the only seaweed farming business from any species that can take a problematic seaweed bloom and preserve its freshness year-round in our unique AlgaePonix paddocks.”

Sargassum Management.

A cost-effective solution for Caribbean Hotels and Governments

Sargassum threatens guest experience, drives up costs, and harms marine ecosystems and local communities throughout the Caribbean. Traditional methods, manual removal and landfill disposal are ineffective, costly, and environmentally harmful. Seafields offers a cost-effective way to keep your beaches free of Sargassum using our in-water technology.

Manufacturers.

Sustainable inputs with verifiable impact

Today’s manufacturers need more than just sustainable sourcing, you need hard data, traceable supply chains, and a credible story that resonates with regulators and customers alike. Seafields provides Sargassum biomass as a feedstock designed to meet those needs.

Our Mission

A regional crisis into a global climate solution

Every year, millions of tonnes of Sargassum swamp the Caribbean, damaging tourism, killing marine life, and releasing methane as it rots. Where others see a problem, we see a resource: a low-impact, floating seaweed. Rather than relying on costly beach cleanups, we offer a proactive, tech-enabled solution, which supports expanded valorisation efforts.

We mitigate climate change in several ways by working with Sargassum: By intercepting Sargassum before it rots, we prevent methane emissions, one of the most potent drivers of climate change.

Any unused pulp is converted into biochar through our partners, securely locking away carbon for hundreds to thousands of years. And when transformed into biofuels or bioplastics, our Sargassum feedstock helps replace fossil fuels with renewable and circular alternatives.

“Seafields says it is agreeing contracts with hotels on several Caribbean islands to protect their beaches. The paddocks could even be a selling point for resorts, says John Auckland, the company’s boss, as the floating weed attracts marine life. “They’re really good to go snorkelling around.”

  • The Guardian

“Seafields claim its solution could save Caribbean governments and hotels hundreds of thousands of dollars in sargassum removal and support a lucrative market in bioplastic and similar materials.”

  • Business Telegraph

“Sargassum is not only a Saint Vincent and the Grenadines challenge, it is a Caribbean-wide challenge that affects our coasts, our people, and our economies. By investing in this pilot with Seafields, we are committed to leading from the front in developing practical solutions that create jobs, protect our environment, and generate new opportunities for our region. This is about turning a regional problem into a regional strength.”

  • i-Invest

“SeaClear will intercept incoming Sargassum offshore, preventing it from reaching beaches and allowing the seaweed to remain fresh for further processing. By preventing its decomposition and degradation, SeaClear helps avoid the emission of harmful gases such as methane and supports a zero-waste solution, achieving significant reductions in landfill and providing valuable cost savings.”
